Places to Eat in Kolhapur


Kolhapur is must visit place if you are a foodie and love to try authentic Maharashtrian taste. Here I am sharing most famous food places that I visited.

If you wish to Visit Kolhapur then Winter is best season to visit Kolhapur especially for Foodies. Famuos Tambada ( Red Curry ) and Pandhara ( White Non veg Soup) is unique quality of Kolhapur tradition for Non-Veg lovers.

Famous Hotels in Kolhapur

1. Hotel Rajpurush:



It's a pure veg hotel with AC dining. Hotel is exact opposite to Kolhapur Railway station so very convenient for tourist coming from railway.
They have stay/lodge facility as well as local restaurant. We tried unlimited thali in the hotel. Thali was very tasty and staff is ready to serve you unlimited food.




Sweet like Gulabjamun, Halwa, Basundi etc. was available on extra charges. Overall it's good option if you are vegetarian.
  • Unlimited Veg thali cost was 200 rs. (sweet was not included).
  • Car parking space is limited but space for 2-wheeler parking is available.

2. Hotel Nilesh:


This hotel is in Shaniwar Peth near famous Sonya Maruti Mandir. Hotel Nilesh is Pure Non-Veg Hotel. This is one of the best hotels in kolhapur for authentic chicken/mutton and Tambda, Pandhra rassa. It’s near from Mahalaxmi temple too. They serve you unlimited Rassa and service is very quick.



Hotel premise is not that big but they have different Family section. This is my favourite hotel for non-veg and rates are cost-effective too. This hotel is like hidden gem.
You will get Mutton thali at 190/- rs which includes unlimited Tambada and Pandhara rassa/gravy.
What else you need if you are non-veg lover !


3. Padma Guest House:


This is also famous place to try Kolhapuri authentic food. Hotel has good ambience. Price is little bit on higher side though. You will get Mutton thali at 350/- rs which too includes unlimited Tambada and Pandhara rassa/gravy.






The place has been recently been renovated. Definitely try mutton lonche (Pickle) here. This hotel is 2 km from Bus stand and 1.5 km from Railway station.


4. Hotel Opal:


This is a very old hotel in Kolhapur. Ambience of the restaurant is very welcoming with wooden structure.




Mutton Thali they charge Rs250. They serve both veg and Non-veg food. You will have ample space for Car parking in hotel premises.


Famous snacks center in Kolhapur


1. Raja Bhau bhel


One of the oldest & most famous Bhel center in Kolhapur. It’s in Khaau Galli near Khassbaug ground.



If you are going out of kolhapur and want to take parcel then they provide packages which can last for 8 to 15 days. The owner itself provides information on how you can prepare and store them.

2. Phadtare Misal


This place is in Udyam Nagar. A restaurant with very basic decor and an open kitchen. It is famous for Kolhapuri misal, which is different from Puneri misal. They also serve sol kadhi, which is a very good idea, considering how pungent the misal is.



Price is very nominal for the quality and the brand you are visiting.


3. Chorage Misal


This place is very near to godess Mahalaxmi Temple (near Mahadwar road) and also equally famous. The Misal here is somewhat less spicy.

The speciality is there Misal Kat. Cold drinks , Solkadhi is also served here.


4. Deepak Vada Center

It’s situated in Dasara Chowk & is the oldest joint for Vada Pav in the city. Recently the place has been renovated apparently attracting more crowd.

The vada was big and tasty, they serve bread slices with it, if you order vada pav. This come at surprise specially if you are from Mumbai.


Other famous places to eat in Kolhapur


1. Rajmandir Ice-cream

This is famous brand of Ice-cream in Kolhapur. Red Peru with chilli powder is their unique flavour. But you can also try Mango, Paan Masala or Sizzling Brownie.

                                         
Price range is 35 to 45 rs for a scoop. There are 3 branches of Rajmandir in Kolhapur which is near Rankala, Rajarampuri and Nagala Park respectively.


2. Hindusthan Bakery

This is most famous bakery in Kolhapur. It has 2 branches in Kolhapur. One which is near Mahalaxmi temple is first one and very old. You will get authentic and fresh bakery items here.

Their unique feature is they will close the shop when all there products prepared on that day are sold.
and it happens many time so go early if you want buy something. It's on Tarabai road in Shivaji Peth.
So, It's a must visit place to take parcel from here to Mumbai and Pune.

  1. I had tried mutton thali once near Kolhapur stand but it was very spicy..will try this hotel next time..!
